BYD has announced the European expansion of its Sealion 07 EV, an SUV positioned to compete with the likes of the Tesla Model Y and VW ID.5. Part of the brand’s Ocean series, the Sealion offers advanced features and several powertrain options tailored for a range of driving preferences and budgets.
The Sealion 07 is built on BYD’s e-Platform 3.0 Evo and comes in both rear-wheel and all-wheel drive versions. It offers two battery options: a 71.8 kWh pack with up to 550 km of range (under CLTC) and an 80.64 kWh version that extends the range to 610 km.
The top-tier AWD variant delivers impressive performance with a 0-100 km/h acceleration in just 4.2 seconds, producing 390 kW of total power from its dual motors. All models support ultra-fast charging, replenishing the battery from 10% to 80% in just 25 minutes.
The interior is designed with luxury in mind, featuring high-quality materials, a 15.6-inch rotatable touchscreen, AR heads-up display, and a comprehensive driver assistance package. Targeting eco-conscious customers, BYD offers both Nappa leather and vegan upholstery options.
BYD plans to introduce the Sealion 07 to Europe in early 2025, marking another step in the company’s aggressive global push. European customers can expect competitive pricing, with the Chinese price translating to around €24,351 for the base model.
This expansion reflects BYD’s ambition to capture market share by blending affordability, cutting-edge technology, and environmental performance.
